Letters, 1836-1846.

James Hopkinson's letters to his mother and sister describes his business trips to Maryland, and traveling by mail stage coach over the mountains to Wheeling, West Virginia. From there, he continued by river boats and rail through Ohio, Kentucky, Louisiana, and back to Philadelphia. The last five letters from Paris and London comment on historical figures and social events in both countries.
